Drew Findlay - Photographer
I was approached by a prestigious wedding photographer in Cheshire who wanted a unique logo for his business website. He desired something distinct from the typical photographer logos, a design that would symbolize the love between couples and their commitment to a lifetime together. After conducting research, I came up with the idea of using penguins as inspiration since they mate for life. In the harsh and unforgiving Antarctic environment, these creatures rely on cooperation for survival and successful reproduction. As a result, the concept of partnership in parenting made perfect sense. Using Adobe Illustrator, I created a vector image that cleverly incorporates negative space to suggest a heart shape, subtly hinting at the idea of love. To complement the style of illustration, I opted for a simple sans serif font with added tracking, to add space to the design.
Cheadle College
I created a vibrant and eye-catching poster for the student end of year show. Taking inspiration from the iconic Andy Warhol, and incoporating bold tech style typography to ensure that it grabs the attention of the audience. The use of blue as the main color was deliberate as it is widely known to be an easy-to-read color for most individuals. Additionally, I had the opportunity to set up and design the logo for the Creative Media, Art & Photography Instagram account. Check out the links above to see more.
Bask Bar
I was approached by Bask Bar in Stockport to create a series of social media posts promoting their 80s night. The main goal was to evoke feelings of nostalgia in their customers. To maintain consistency with their brand, we decided to incorporate their distinctive Tropiline font and brand colors into the posts. After brainstorming ideas, I came up with a concept that revolved around the iconic 192 bus, which was frequently used by young people during the 80s for nights out in Stockport and Manchester. This bus route holds many cherished memories for locals, and it conveniently passes by the bar, which adds an extra layer of relevance. Additionally, the headline of the posts makes a playful reference to a popular kids program from that era, further adding to the nostalgic theme.
ART - CITY - TRAVEL
I was hired to design a set of illustrated layouts for a travel book that focuses on cities and their artistic elements. The idea behind these layouts was to create simple vector illustrations that capture the cultural essence of each city. With this project, I aimed to visually depict the unique aspects of each city's art scene, allowing readers to explore and appreciate the diverse cultural landscapes. From iconic landmarks to renowned museums, these illustrations aimed to bring the vibrant art scenes of these cities to life on the pages of the travel book. By combining simplicity with artistic representation, the goal was to create visually engaging layouts that would inspire readers to embark on their own artistic adventures within these cities.
Newsquest - Publishing
I have worked as a Special Publications Graphic Designer and Property Press Production Manager for York Press for a period of six years. Additionally, I have also freelanced for different publishers throughout the past 24 years. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to design numerous page spreads and other projects. I have utilized software such as Quark Xpress and Adobe InDesign to create visually appealing and professionally crafted designs. With my extensive experience and expertise, I have successfully contributed to the creation of aesthetically pleasing publications.
Diana in Art Book
I had the honour of being chosen to produce a stunning artwork for the book Diana in Art, written by Mem Mehmet. This remarkable book showcases the talent of more than 100 renowned artists hailing from different corners of the globe. Among them are notable names such as Andy Warhol, Bryan Organ, Richard Foster, and countless others. The artwork I created was a unique interpretation of Princess Diana, capturing her essence in a way that was both captivating and thought-provoking. To enhance the impact of each piece, the book also included insightful quotes from individuals who had a deep understanding of Diana's character. It was truly a remarkable project that allowed me to contribute to the legacy of an iconic figure.

Tell Us A Story - Photobook
This was a task I set for my Year 1 Diploma students recently. To create a foldable photobook, using the theme of Stockport/winter 2023 and using only three lines as if they were texting someone about the photos. They used quotes and poetry. The task involved creating a technically accurate layout using InDesign and appropriate typography. I created this mock-up as inspiration.
Trafford Stockport College
I was honoured when my Head of Studies approached me with the task of designing a series of badges for the Trafford Stockport College Group, as part of the Greater Mancunian theme. The main focus was to incorporate the iconic Manchester Bee along with specific wording that was provided to me. To add variety, it was decided that each badge should be of a different colour. The purpose behind this initiative is to motivate and reward the students, who can earn these badges and eventually accumulate enough to achieve either a Bronze, Silver, or Gold recognition. In total, there are eleven different badges to be earned. I am excited to see how these badges will inspire and drive the students to excel in their academic pursuits and become proud ambassadors of the Greater Mancunian community.
T shirt Designs - Corrie
I love to create humorous T shirts, using Typography. These have been one of my most popular designs. I couldn't find any that I liked so I designed my own.
Art Commissions - Animals
I love to paint, using acrylics. This is a selection of artwork commissions. You can view more of my work on my social media (links above).
