Featured Project:
Origin Mark
MA Graphic Design
Major Project & Open Source Initiative

The Brief: Developed as the major research culmination of my Master of Arts at Arts University Bournemouth, this project addresses the contemporary need for transparent disclosure and provenance in the creative industries. The objective was to design a conceptual 'Origin Mark' system, a clear visual verification matrix that labels, protects, and champions the diverse methodologies of modern designers, makers, and traditional craftspeople in an increasingly automated landscape.

The Concept: Operating at the intersection of digital provenance and physical craftsmanship, the project establishes a structured visual framework for authenticating different tiers of studio practice, from purely algorithmic and hybrid workflows to verified human execution. The design language itself embodies this philosophy, using a hybrid approach that pairs precise digital vector design with tactile, physical production methods to visibly demonstrate process transparency.

Future Direction: To maximize its real-world utility, I am currently transitioning the Origin Mark framework into an Open Source initiative. By opening the system up for wider community adoption, the goal is to establish an accessible, evolving global standard that creators everywhere can use to accurately communicate the origin, labour, and technology embedded in their final output.

Reclaimed Slab -
Eco-Conscious Circular Design

The Brief: A sustainable design initiative exploring urban re-greening, designed to encourage communities to transform forgotten concrete spaces into biodiverse green patches.

The Process: A hybrid of digital asset creation and tactile, physical materials. The physical component features plantable wildflower seed paper printed with eco-friendly water inks, demonstrating how clean typography and functional iconography can guide sustainable consumer actions.

The UX Journey: This project bridges the physical-to-digital divide. By scanning the embedded QR code on the tag, users are guided through an interactive user journey to a collaborative digital map, where they can log and track their newly reclaimed green spaces.

Front Back

Macclesfield Greenspace - Activism & Heritage

The Brief: A grassroots-inspired visual campaign and call-to-action focused on preserving green spaces and reimagining historic mill environments in Macclesfield.

The Visual Language: Bold, experimental, and fluid typography layered over an earthy palette to create an high-impact, urgent message that demands attention in an outdoor environment.

The Purpose: A physical-to-digital community campaign featuring an explicit "Object Now!" call to action, utilizing QR routing to empower local residents to protect their local heritage and environment.

Drew Findlay - Brand Identity

The Brief: A prestigious wedding photographer based in Cheshire required a distinctive brand identity that stood apart from traditional industry clichés, capturing the core concepts of lifelong partnership and emotional durability.

The Concept: Inspired by the lifelong mating bonds of penguins surviving in the harsh Antarctic environment, the visual identity celebrates absolute cooperation. Using Adobe Illustrator, I developed a clean vector mark that balances negative space to subtly form a heart. This is paired with a minimalist, high-tracking sans-serif typeface to give the final design a premium, editorial feel.

Cheadle College -
Exhibition Graphics

The Brief: Campaign and promotional graphics for the student end-of-year creative showcase.

The Concept: Taking visual cues from Andy Warhol’s pop art legacy, I paired high-contrast imagery with bold, techno-inspired typography to command immediate attention across the campus. The vibrant blue palette was selected specifically to optimize readability and visual accessibility for a diverse student audience. Alongside the physical print campaign, I also designed the visual framework for the department's Creative Media, Art, and Photography Instagram channel.

Bask Bar - Social Campaign

The Brief: A series of nostalgic social media assets for Bask Bar in Stockport to launch and promote their resident 1980s club night.

The Concept: To honor the bar's established aesthetic, the campaign layers their signature Tropiline typography over a concept rooted in local collective memory: the iconic 192 bus route. Famously used by generations of people traveling between Stockport and Manchester for nights out, the bus conveniently stops right outside the venue. The headlines feature tongue-in-cheek references to pop culture from the era, striking an immediate chord of nostalgia with the local community.

ART - CITY - TRAVEL -
Editorial Illustration

The Brief: A curated suite of illustrated editorial layouts for a travel publication focusing on global cultural capitals and their distinct urban art scenes.

The Concept: The objective was to distill the complex cultural architecture of each city into minimalist vector illustrations. From defining landmarks to celebrated museum spaces, these graphic layouts translate the vibrant energy of global art scenes directly onto the printed page, inspiring readers to map out their own creative adventures.

Newsquest -
Editorial & Publishing Production

The Role: Special Publications Graphic Designer & Property Press Production Manager (York Press)

The Experience: Across a six-year tenure in publishing management alongside 24 years of independent freelance practice for diverse publishers, I have directed the layout, typography, and production of countless high-circulation page spreads. Utilizing industry-standard frameworks like QuarkXPress and Adobe InDesign, my focus remains on balancing tight commercial production deadlines with high-end, visually engaging editorial layouts.

Diana in Art Book Commission

The Project: A featured visual contribution to the landmark art book Diana in Art, compiled by Mem Mehmet and published by Pop Art Books (Bloomsbury Street, London).

The Outcome: This global publication showcases interpretations of Princess Diana from over 100 international artists, including icons such as Andy Warhol, Bryan Organ, and Richard Foster. My contribution provides a thought-provoking, contemporary perspective on her image, styled to interact dynamically with accompanying historical quotes that explored her character.
Published by Pop Art Books, 20 Bloomsbury Street, London.

Tell Us A Story -
Zine & Photobook Mockup

The Project: A pedagogical mock-up designed as a live teaching resource for my Year 1 Diploma students.

The Concept: The live brief challenged students to build a tactile, foldable photobook documenting Stockport in the winter of 2023. The constraint was strictly narrative: they could only use three lines of text, mimicking the urgent, modern cadence of a text message, integrated with poetry and found quotes. I created this physical mock-up using Adobe InDesign to demonstrate advanced typographic layout systems and practical paper-engineering techniques to the studio cohort.

Trafford Stockport College
- Recognition Graphics

The Brief: Commissioned by the Head of Studies to design a unified collection of motivational merit badges for the college group, anchored to a regional theme.

The Concept: The visual assets integrate the historic Manchester bee with bespoke typography. To establish a clear, rewarding progression system, I designed a distinct colour-coding matrix spanning eleven individual badges, culminating in Bronze, Silver, and Gold milestones. The initiative acts as a visual driver for student achievement, fostering community pride across the campus network.

Typography & Apparel -
Casual T-shirt Designs

The Project: Personal ventures in typographic apparel design, focusing on humorous, text-driven graphics.

The Concept: Born from a desire for distinct, witty streetwear that I couldn't find on the high street, I developed these custom typographic layouts for print. They have grown into some of my most popular independent creative designs.

Art Commissions - Animals

The Project: A selected archive of private fine art commissions, specializing in expressive acrylic animal portraiture. You can view further physical studio work and ongoing visual research via my social media links at the top of the page.
